Happy Older Persons Day!

On 1st October every year we are celebrating the International Day of Older Persons. This year, the international community took this opportunity to shed light on older Human Rights champions and reminds that growing older does not diminish a person’s inherent dignity and fundamental rights.

2018 is celebrating the 70th anniversary of the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the UN General Assembly. Seventy years after its adoption, the Declaration is just as powerfully relevant as it was on its first day. The ageist stereotypes and attitudes that are widespread in society however prevent older persons to fully enjoy these rights. This is why on 1st October, AGE Platform Europe - the European network of older persons that is also a NESTORE partner, kicked-off a 70 day campaign against ageism. You can join the movement on ageing-equal.org and by using the hashtag #AgeingEqual.
